SUBMISSION PREPARED BY THE PLATFORM FOR GENDER EQUALITY, MOLDOVAN NGOS AND INDIVIDUALS UNITED TO PROMOTE GENDER EQUALITY IN MOLDOVA
This report has been produced by the Platform for Gender Equality (PEG). The document was prepared for submission to the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in preparation for the Universal Periodic Review of the Republic of Moldova’s implementation of international obligations before the UN Human Rights Council.
The PEG is an informal network in the Republic of Moldova, comprising 62 civil society organizations and activists who promote women’s rights and gender equality in all areas of public and private life. Established in 2015, PEG functions as a space for coordination, feminist solidarity, and collective action and is one of the most active and visible advocacy initiatives focused on gender in the country.
PEG is a recognized and effective civil society actor in advancing gender equality in national legislation, promoting women’s participation in decision-making processes, and combating violence against women, including in the political sphere. The platform’s members bring practical and diverse expertise in key areas such as providing specialized services for survivors of gender-based violence (GBV); working with women with disabilities and supporting their inclusion; women’s economic empowerment and equal access to resources; and advancing the rights of Roma women and combating multiple forms of discrimination.
