The Association Women for the Contemporary Society (AWCS) is a registered, frontline non-profit and non-governmental development organization whose main goal is to consolidate the role of women, youth and other vulnerable population in their communities by enhancing their participation in social, cultural, economic, political and environmental issues. The mission of the Association Women for the Contemporary Society is to ensure the protection of the rights of women, youth, girls in the context of social, economic and environmental justice geared towards sustainable development.
AWCS seeks to promote and protect human rights, equality, economic empowerment and sustainable livelihood for everyone. Thus, the Association Women for the Contemporary Society has developed a large range of projects and research on women’s rights, especially women from developing areas of the country.
The objective of AWCS is to empower and promote sustainable economic independence and livelihood for women and youths through the enhancement of modern social, cultural practices. We provide services to society through welfare action for community development, assistance in sustainable systems’ development, and popular movements. Moldova is facing massive challenge to meet up the demand of its ever-increasing population. AWCS is working on poverty eradication by directly involving poverty stricken population. Target groups are mainly women and vulnerable people with hardly any means. Our main tasks are to organize these people, raise their awareness and make them development oriented. AWCS is working based on assessed needs and demands of the grassroots level youth and women. By involving the beneficiaries directly, we are working within the context of overall national planning for development.
We are promoting increasing attention and recognition of development and development assistance among academics and practitioners.
